Our 40s are a time when many of us see dramatic, noticeable changes in our skin. The changes that started in our 30s are amplified as our skin becomes drier and the collagen and elastin continue to break-down.

Skin Concerns in Your 40s
  • Bags under the eyes.
  • Deeper lines and wrinkles (if you sleep on your side, wrinkles in that area may be increased).
  • Increased sun spots, redness, and vascularity.
  • Acne due to hormonal changes can occur.
  • Some increased dryness and cell turnover slows down.
At-Home Healthy Skin Care
  • Glycolic acid based wash or cream can help increase cell turnover.
  • Moisturizers with humectant ingredients, such as hylauronic acid and glycerin, attract water in the skin.
  • Retin A use is essential.
  • Opt for a satin pillowcase.
  • If acne is a concern, use an adult acne product that is non-drying. Please note that the acne product advertised on TV is not usually appropriate for adult skin.
